Australian stocks closed higher on Thursday, with gains in the IT, Metals & Mining and Materials sectors leading the S&P/ASX 200 up 0.52%. Nufarm Ltd (ASX:NUF) was the best performer, rising 14.15% or 0.75 points to 6.05. Xero Ltd (ASX:XRO) and Appen Ltd (ASX:APX) also saw strong gains, up 8.92% and 6.49% respectively. Beach Energy Ltd (ASX:BPT) was the worst performer, falling 4.26% or 0.06 points to 1.35. Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.21% or 4.15 to $1,980.75 a troy ounce, while Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.48% or 0.35 to hit $72.48 a barrel. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 102.86.
