Indian stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the Nifty 50 down 0.57% and the BSE Sensex 30 index down 0.60%. Losses in the Real Estate, Metals and Technology sectors led the decline. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was the best performer, rising 1.34%, while Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was the worst, falling 1.95%. On the BSE Sensex 30, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) rose 1.27%, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) was up 0.87%, and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) gained 0.68%. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) was down 1.80%, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) lost 1.50%, and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) was down 1.47%. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1006 to 906 and 71 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1689 fell and 1672 advanced, while 134 ended unchanged. The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.41%. Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.06%, while Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.64%. USD/INR was up 0.11%, while EUR/INR fell 0.23%. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38%.
